AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Parking will be at a premium in downtown Augusta on New Year’s Eve as people prepare to celebrate the start of 2026, but the parking challenges could extend well beyond tonight as the Broad Street Improvement Plan continues.
The four-year construction project is just under four months old, and drone video shows how the work has already changed the downtown area compared with this time last year.
Residents voice parking frustrations
Michael Thurman, who lives in Augusta, said the current parking situation forces people to walk longer distances than they should have to.
“I guess in some areas you do park and then walk four or five, six blocks. People in Augusta aren’t used to that. And realistically, you shouldn’t have to do that now,” Thurman said…
