KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — From daring rescues, collegiate sport wins and community, Kalamazoo County was host to chapters that were part of the story of 2025.
In January, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety fire crews battled three different fires in one night, including one that left one person dead.
Amid the blaring alarms and smoke, Sgt. Brian Reidenbach ran up to an apartment building as a man struggled to climb out of his window.

“It’s very rewarding to be able to help people out of situations like that. The job is exciting. It’s different every day and you never know what you can run into when you get to work,” said Reidenbach to News 8 in the days following the incident…
