Miami authorities are currently piecing together the circumstances surrounding a grim discovery in a local park canal. Yesterday morning, a body was found floating in the waterway adjacent to the 400 block of Northeast 77th Street, as confirmed by Miami Police.
Responding to the distressing situation, City of Miami Police units converged on the scene near Manatee Bend Park following reports that surfaced about an individual observed lifelessly drifting in the canal. William Vallenilla, a resident in proximity of the park, relayed to 7News that one of his neighbors came upon the body while she was out walking her dogs. “One of our neighbors, who was out walking her dogs at Manatee Bend Park, told me that she found a dead body in the river here, Little River, and that it was like partially submerged, and then all of a sudden, like, we just saw all the fire trucks and all the fire rescue that were here, so I was, like, curious,” Vallenilla recounted.
Subsequent to the initial report, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units alongside the police began searching the waters. Within hours, the officials’ suspicion was tragically confirmed – they had located the remains of what seemed to be a Caucasian man.
