Tens of thousands of Tennesseans face health care, SNAP benefit changes in 2026

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tens of thousands of Tennesseans can expect changes in their government benefits in 2026 from the food they can buy at the store to the price of their health care.

Affordable Care Act subsidies, which were expanded during the pandemic, are expiring, meaning millions of Americans will likely have to pay more for health care or go uninsured.

“When they expire at the end of the year, on average, people can expect their monthly premium payments to increase by 114% or over double,” Matthew McGough, a policy analyst with the Kaiser Family Foundation, said…
