Gun Seen At Garden State Plaza Leads To Arrest Of Newark Teen: Police

Police were notified around 9:05 p.m., after Westfield Garden State Plaza security reported a suspicious person, later identified as Charlie Williams, in possession of a gun, according to Police Chief Robert M. Guidetti. The incident happened around the same time that a shooting was reported at the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne.

A security officer told police that a mall patron observed a thin Black male wearing a black jacket, ski mask, and Nike Air Jordan sneakers remove a handgun from his waistband before fleeing the mall and entering a 2021 Hyundai Elantra, Guidetti said.
