Lawsuit filed after man was crushed by fallen tree in City Heights

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A local family has filed a lawsuit against the City of San Diego following the death of Roberto Ruiz Salmon, who was killed by a falling tree during a storm outside his home in City Heights.

The tragic incident occurred at the intersection of Marlborough and Wightman, where 61-year-old Salmon, a veteran welder, was struck by the tree. Attorney Josh Gurenberg, representing the family, stated that the city had failed in its duty to maintain the tree in a safe condition despite prior warnings about its deteriorating state.
