New year, new normal: Ashley Wasielewski faces recovery

SAVANNANH, Ga. (WSAV) — Ashley Wasielewski underwent her third surgery just days before Christmas, her family says, marking a difficult holiday season. They said the new year brings a “new normal” for the family.

It has been 22 days since the acid attack near Forsyth Park. Investigators said a man poured a corrosive liquid on Wasielewski, leaving her with third-degree burns over more than half of her body. She has undergone multiple surgeries at the Augusta Burn Center and has since been discharged to recover in the Augusta area.

Her son, Westley Wasielewski, said the family is still waiting for answers…
