Syracuse homicides in 2025 were the fewest in more than a decade. All crime declined

Syracuse, N.Y. — Murders and crime in general fell significantly in Syracuse in 2025, continuing a steep decline seen nationwide in the years since the COVID-19 pandemic.

There were 14 homicides in the city last year, the fewest in more than a decade and a 56% decline from the pandemic-era peak. It’s the fewest killings since 13 in 2012.
