Man allegedly used wife’s marked Homeland Security vehicle to pose as federal agent

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WKRC) – A man allegedly stole his wife’s marked Homeland Security vehicle to pose as a federal agent and help police respond to an emergency call that he placed himself.

Officers with the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched to a residence that was under construction at 1:56 p.m. on December 10 after someone called 911 to report that the house’s front door was open, according to a release from the department.

The first officer to arrive at the scene was met with a Homeland Security police vehicle pulling up to the residence at the same time, per the release. A man reportedly exited the vehicle and identified himself as a Homeland Security Police Officer. He allegedly “attempted to assist officers in clearing the residence while armed, holding a handgun.”…
