Semi crash knocks power pole onto I-39/90 in Wisconsin, causing heavy delays

STOUGHTON, Wis. (WFRV) – The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating a crash that occurred early Friday morning after a semi-truck struck a high-voltage power pole, knocking it onto the interstate.

Shortly before 3 a.m., authorities said a semi hauling food products left the roadway near County Road N in Stoughton and hit the power pole, which fell near the northbound lanes of Interstate 39/90.

The semi driver was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency crews. The driver was then transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic delays were reported in the area as crews worked to remove the pole and make repairs. Drivers were advised to expect continued delays while the scene was cleared and utility work was completed…
