SHREVEPORT, La. – Jess Migues of Stonewall has been fighting for her life since the day she was born. She is asking the community for support in the new year.
“I was born a blue baby. So I was flown three days later to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston in the medical center in Houston, and have been going there my whole life,” said Migues.
Jess was born with congenital heart defects: tricuspid atresia and pulmonary atresia. Now at 51 years old, she’s had four open-heart surgeries in her lifetime, but today, her heart and body are no longer working together.
“I’m currently in heart failure. They haven’t told me what stage they’ve told me without the heart transplant. I have 12 to 18 months to live,” Migues said.
That news came just weeks ago. She continues to struggle with extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, and poor circulation. Simple tasks like walking can be exhausting. On top of that, she also lives with type 1 diabetes and liver complications, making the transplant process even more complicated…
