Elderly man’s note for help leads to his caregiver’s arrest

LANTANA, Fla. (WPEC/CBS NEWSPATH/WKRC) – A letter carrier’s quick response to a handwritten distress note led to the arrest of a caregiver accused of attacking an 81-year-old Florida man, police said.

The man, who requested anonymity, placed a note on his mailbox reading “call the police” after his caregiver, Denise Williams, 60, allegedly tried to strangle him. The victim told authorities Williams became angry over the condition of a bathroom, climbed on top of him and attempted to grab the hand he was using to call 911. He said Williams then took his phones, car keys, credit card and checkbook before leaving the home.
