IOWA, USA — The Iowa Department of Transportation is ringing in the new year with the lowest crash fatality year the state has seen in 100 years.
In 2025, Iowa saw 260 crash fatalities, involving at least one vehicle. That’s 91 less than in 2024, state data shows. Its also one lower than in 1925, which was Iowa’s lowest mark of the last century. The most popular car on the nation’s roads then, the Ford Model T, only boasted a top speed of 40-45 mph.
