Michigan hunters donate deer to feed families in need

BROOKLYN, Mich. (WILX) -More than 1.4 million people in Michigan are in need of food, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources held a deer drive Saturday in Brooklyn to address that need.

As part of the “Hunters Feeding Michigan” program, hunters can choose to donate their deer, and the department will distribute the venison meat to families across Michigan.

Last year, more than 140,000 pounds of meat was donated through the program…
