Two individuals were arrested following a blaze that ravaged a Snellville tire and brake shop on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred at around 2:33 p.m. at the Mavis Tires & Brakes establishment, situated on 3887 Centerville Rosebud Road SW. Firefighters were met with flames breaching the roof of the garage behind the main structure upon arrival, with parts of the roof ultimately collapsing and causing nearby power lines to fall, as per FOX 5 Atlanta.
The fire, which was declared under control in less than 15 minutes, resulted in no grave injuries. However, one person required on-scene medical attention for possible smoke inhalation. The event prompted the temporary closure of Centerville Rosebud Road for better access to a fire hydrant, and responders from hazardous materials teams, Georgia Power, and Atlanta Gas Light were also present at the scene. The Gwinnett County fire investigators have not yet disclosed the motives behind the incendiary act nor the names and charges of the arrested men, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
