EL MIRAGE, Ariz. — A New Year’s Eve celebration turned frightening in an El Mirage neighborhood after police say a man fired multiple gunshots into the air, creating a dangerous situation for nearby residents and prompting renewed warnings about the deadly consequences of celebratory gunfire.
El Mirage police were alerted to the gunfire at around 7:30 p.m. in a neighborhood south of Thunderbird Road and Grand Avenue. While fireworks echoed across the Valley, residents in this area say the sound of gunshots quickly replaced any sense of celebration.
