Prosecutors review Melissa Jubane murder case following detective’s resignation, misconduct charges

PORTLAND, Ore. — Prosecutors in Washington County say they are evaluating how to proceed in a Beaverton murder case after a detective resigned and was later charged with official misconduct.

Michael Boliek, a former Beaverton police detective who played a key role in the Melissa Jubane homicide investigation, made his first court appearance Friday on charges unrelated to the homicide. His resignation and pending criminal case have raised new questions about his role in the murder prosecution, which is scheduled to go to trial in March.

Boliek left the courtroom with his attorney following the brief initial appearance and declined to comment…
