Defense questions competency of lovesick Publix worker infatuated with manager

A motion has been filed questioning the competency of a lovesick Publix work who was infatuated with a female manager.

Christian Michael Metevier, 25, who lives at 1509 E. Schwartz Blvd. on the Historic Side of The Villages, continues to be held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center after violating a court order which had forbidden him from getting near the woman, who is a manager at Publix at Trailwinds Village in Wildwood. He has been lodged at the jail since Nov. 24.

A judge has granted a motion seeking a psychological evaluation to determine the competency of Metevier. A status conference in his case is set for Jan. 22.

Metevier was apparently no longer employed by Publix when he began showing up at the store, including inquiring about the woman at the customer service desk and getting in an elevator to go to an upstairs office where she worked. He began leaving her voice messages and sent her a message through Facebook messenger, indicating he was “excited” about the possibility of marrying her. He called her, “princess.”…
