Bid documents shed light on demolition and rebuilding of Brownwood entrance

Bid documents are shedding light on the planned demolition and rebuilding of the entrance to Brownwood in The Villages.

The District Office is seeking bidders for a “Brownwood Entryway Feature Replacement.” The project could cost as much as $300,000. A mandatory pre-bid conference is set for Jan. 21 at Brownwood. The deadline for bids will be Feb. 4.

Bid documents indicate that the existing structure at the entrance to Brownwood will be demolished and rebuilt. The familiar metal Brownwood sign will be removed and stored during the project. It will be mounted on the new structure.

The engineer for the project is Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc.

In 2019, the Project Wide Advisory Committee agreed to spend $63,500 to replace rotting wood at the entry way to Brownwood Paddock Square…
