ISIS-inspired New Year’s Eve terror plot was foiled, FBI says

MINT HILL, N.C. (WJZY) — A potential terrorist attack planned for North Carolina was stopped by the FBI and local law enforcement partners, the FBI Charlotte office and US Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

The FBI said 18-year-old Christian Sturdivant was “directly inspired” by the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) to plan an attack.

According to authorities, Sturdivant planned to use knives and hammers to carry out a deadly attack at a grocery store and fast-food restaurant in town of Mint Hill on New Year’s Eve.
