Amarillo, Texas – Strong southwest winds are ramping up across the Texas Panhandle this morning, with gusty conditions expected to peak late in the morning and early afternoon, creating travel concerns and increasing the risk for blowing debris.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, sustained winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph today, with widespread gusts between 25 and 35 mph. There is a higher-end risk for stronger gusts topping 40 mph, especially in the corridor stretching from Stinnett to Beaver.
