Great-grandmother killed in south suburban hit-and-run on New Year’s Eve

A south suburban family began the new year with heartbreak after their loved one, a beloved great-grandmother, was killed in a hit-and-run.

Harriet Reynolds left her home at the Our Savior’s Senior Housing complex on Indiana Avenue in Dolton on New Year’s Eve. The 72-year-old was walking to a gas station on the same block when she was hit by a car, said Reynolds’ daughter, Consuela Vernor.

“This is tearing my family up,” Vernor said. “What if this happened to your mom? A car rolled in and ran her over and drove off. She was less than a thousand feet from her home.”…
