This year’s calendar requires a Phillips-head screwdriver at my desk

For the better part of three decades, I’ve received a Linnea poster calendar as a Christmas gift — 12 gorgeous posters, one for each month of the year.

Early on, I had a beautiful gold frame specially made to hold the calendar posters. I try hard to change them on the first day of each month, which isn’t as simple as one might think. The task requires a Phillips-head screwdriver. I value efficiency to an almost absurd measure, which is why I adore the time required to change my calendar each month.

The opposite of efficient requires me to clear off space on my crowded desk, twist the screws, loosen the brackets, and lift out one poster to replace it with the next…
