DES MOINES, Iowa — SNAP recipients across Iowa will have to be more conscious of the items they pull off the shelf at their local grocery store as new restrictions take effect.
The new year means new restrictions for those who use the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to help pay for groceries. The changes are the product of a waiver submitted last year by Gov. Kim Reynolds, who pled her case to USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins in a March letter.
“We can and must do better for Americans and Iowans by encouraging healthy choices that will help people thrive, not simply providing cash benefits with no focus on holistic well-being,” the letter reads in part…
