ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The next class of police officers, tasked with protecting the Rockford community, were sworn in Friday afternoon.
Around 2 p.m., Jan. 2, Veterans Memorial Hall filled with people, eager to watch loved ones and community members be sworn into the police force and others receive promotions.
Police Chief, Carla Redd, announced the names of the new recruits as they walked across the stage, many getting their new badge pinned on by loved ones.
“I come from a family of many law enforcement members, been in Rockford my entire life and I’ve always known I was going to end up at this department because its kind of been a second family to me,” said Rockford Police Department’s new recruit, Dominic Mastroianni. “So I’m just very excited to be back here and give back to my community.”…
