Although the Christmas routine at Eddie Salas’ home didn’t change this year, it had a decidedly different tone.
The kids woke up and opened their gifts. Family arrived for a big breakfast. Everyone caught up with each other. The air was filled with happiness, gratitude and relief. That was a stark difference compared to last Christmas Eve when Salas – Harlan’s head football coach since 2017 – found out he had cancer.
“This one was different because I got to enjoy it,” Salas said. “No stress. No pressure. It was thankful to God for giving me this next opportunity for being alive and being well and having a good quality of life and having a testimony for it.”…
