Daphne PD: Armed man barricades himself in home, threatens to harm self and neighbor

DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) – A 66-year-old man is charged with making a terrorist threat after Daphne police say he stood on a neighbor’s porch holding guns, then holed up in his own home and threatened to hurt himself or his neighbor.

It happened just before midnight Friday in the Genuine Risk Circle area in the Jubilee Farms community after the Daphne Police Department said a resident reported dangerous behavior by a neighbor. The resident reported their doorbell camera had captured James McMasters standing on their porch with holding guns, according to authorities.

By the time officers arrived, McMasters had returned to his own home, according to authorities. Police said officers made telephone contact with McMasters, but he refused to come out of his home. He also made threats indicating he would hurt himself or his neighbor, if given the opportunity, they said.

The Daphne Police Department SWAT team was deployed to begin crisis negotiations and evacuate nearby residents, according to authorities…
