Hikers stranded on Point Reyes cliff rescued by helicopter

(KRON) — Two people who became stuck on a steep cliff along the Point Reyes National Seashore coastline on Sunday were rescued by a California Highway Patrol helicopter after dark.

The Marin County Fire Department requested the assistance of CHP’s H-30 helicopter at around 7 p.m. after learning that two female hikers were trapped on a seaside cliff south of Pelican Lake, according to officials.

“The crew of H-30 responded and were able to locate the parties along an extremely steep rock formation,” CHP said.

The H-30 crew made a one-skid landing to drop off a paramedic on the cliff. The paramedic contacted the hikers and got them in position for rescue. H-30 returned to the cliff’s edge, where everyone was loaded into the helicopter…
