For the first time since the dawn of the COVID-19 pandemic, East Baton Rouge Parish saw fewer than 100 homicides in a year.
With a final tally of 94 reported in 2025, the parish broke a run of homicide totals that had remained stubbornly high even as much of the rest of the country saw post-pandemic reductions in killings.
