Authorities respond to ammonia leak in Springfield

GREENE COUNTY, Mo. — Local authorities responded to a reported ammonia leak at a facility in West Springfield on Monday morning.

The Springfield Fire Department says that an isolated refrigerator unit was overpressured and released ammonia at 1200 N. Haseltine Road.

The ammonia quickly dissipated, and there was no public safety risk or any need for significant mitigation efforts, according to the Springfield Fire Department.

Three people, including two employees and a contractor at the building, were treated by EMS and sent to a local hospital due to inhalation, but there were no serious injuries…
