Allentown’s Sixth Street Shelter cuts ribbon on ‘Step Up’ program

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A homeless shelter in Allentown is taking a new step to help families move from temporary housing to long-term stability.

The Sixth Street Shelter just hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony, announcing its new ‘Step Up’ program. That gives families a chance to rent an apartment at the shelter at an affordable rate, while also still utilizing the shelter’s resources.

The program uses five on-site apartments at the shelter in Allentown where families can stay for up to 2 years, and continue to receive help from case managers…
