Dog rescued after falling through ice in Michigan

COLON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Firefighters rescued a dog who fell through the ice on a St. Joseph County, Michigan, lake Sunday morning, the fire department said.

Around 10:20 a.m., Colon Community Fire and Rescue was called for a dog that had broken through the ice on the channel, the fire department posted on Facebook.

First responders put on water rescue gear and got on the ice. They were able to attach a rope to the dog and safely pulled him ashore.

The dog, Stevie, had been “visiting its Grandma” at the time, the fire department wrote.

“Stevie the dog was reunited with its family who was waiting with warm towels and lots of warm hugs. All members cleared the scene after getting in a few ‘who’s a good boy’s of our own,” Colon Community Fire & Rescue wrote…
