A Leesburg woman will appear in court next week after trying to steal crab legs and bacon from Walmart.
Officers responded to Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., regarding a retail theft that had just occurred around 4 p.m., Dec. 24, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. While on the phone with loss prevention, they learned 34-year-old Steaaja Tajai Chandler got into a black 2020 Mercedes and fled to Dollar Tree at the shopping plaza across the street.
The officers were able to find her inside the store, located at 2241 Citrus Blvd., and escorted her into a patrol vehicle. Meanwhile, one of the officers drove over to Walmart to speak with a loss prevention employee, the report said.
He advised that Chandler skip-scanned a $13.77 pack of snow crab legs and a $5.97 pack of bacon. When she tried to leave, loss prevention told her to follow them into their office. She instead dropped the food and left the store, the report said…
