Name announced for J.J. Abrams, Glen Powell film shot in Providence

As expected, the movie starring Glen Powell, for which J.J. Abrams shot scenes in Providence in August, has a new name: “The Great Beyond,” according to World of Reel, which cited a filing with the Writers Guild of America.

Production was under the working title “Ghostwriter” while filming.

During a week of filming in Providence, culminating with the overnight closure of the Point Street Bridge, Abrams filmed Powell at more than half a dozen locations in and around Providence. Most of the filming for “The Great Beyond” took place before the production moved to Rhode Island, in studios in London and on location in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland…
