A fire that began over the weekend in the Mark Twain Forest near Garrison in southeast Christian County is on its way to being contained.

The 700-acre Math Branch Fire, located in the Swan Creek Non-motorized Area, is approximately 70% contained. The fire was reported Saturday, January 3, 2026. The cause is under investigation. Full containment is expected by the end of the week…
