CSPD K9 Kylo retires after years of dedicated service

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — After seven and a half years with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), K9 Kylo has reached his well-earned retirement, according to a CSPD Facebook post on Monday, Jan. 5.

CSPD K9: The “Force is strong” with Kylo

At 8 years old, Kylo has been working in both apprehension and narcotics detection with CSPD since June of 2018, and during his time, he was deployed on 741 calls for service, including over 190 tactical operations. Kylo was responsible for facilitating 255 felony and 39 misdemeanor arrests, and for helping seize over $1.2 million in seized narcotics.

Kylo has been beloved by the community, being a three-time March Madness champion and often assisting in community relations, with over 80 public demonstrations at schools and community groups.

CSPD stated that after years of serving with distinction, the department and the community are grateful for his service. “He will always have a special place in the CSPD family and the community of Colorado Springs. We hope you enjoy many naps, belly rubs, and pup-cups in your retirement, Kylo!”…
