HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Police Department saw an uptick of fireworks-related calls this past New Year’s Eve compared to last year, with almost 200 more calls ringing in 2026.
HPD worked in tandem with the Department of Law Enforcement to respond to fireworks-related issues in an effort to curb illegal fireworks activity.
Between 6 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2025 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026, law enforcement officials responded to 592 fireworks calls. Last year, they responded to 395 calls of the same nature.
