La Luz del Mundo Church leaders indicted on charges of exploitation and abuse

NEW YORK, New York — An investigation by ICE Homeland Security Investigations has led to the indictment of several leaders of the La Luz del Mundo Church on charges of sexual, financial, and related criminal conduct. The charges allege a racketeering enterprise that facilitated systemic sexual abuse of children and women over decades.

The indictment names Naasón Joaquín García, Rosa Sosa, Azalia Rangel García, Eva García De Joaquín, Joram Núñez Joaquín, and Silem García Peña as defendants.
