HIGH POINT, N.C. — Police say two armed robberies at the same High Point apartment complex just days apart were tied together through online marketplace meetups. Officers charged two people in the robberies and said they will file juvenile petitions for two other teenagers.
The first robbery happened on January 1 around 6 p.m. Investigators say a victim used the OfferUp app to sell a gaming system and initially met the buyers at a Sheetz on Westchester Drive. When the suspects said they needed to get money, the group went across the street to the Westchester Key Apartments. That’s where police say one of the suspects pulled out a gun and demanded the gaming system. The victim was not hurt.
Just two days later, on January 3 around 5:40 p.m., officers were called back to the same apartment complex for another armed robbery. Police say the victim had again arranged to sell a gaming system through OfferUp. When he arrived, he was held at gunpoint. As the suspects ran away, one of them fired a shot at the victim. No one was injured…
