Alabama Secretary of State removes 186 “noncitizens” from voter rolls

On Jan. 6, Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen announced that 186 noncitizens have been identified as having registered to vote with 25 having illegally casted votes in past elections.

Allen said these individuals registered to vote in Alabama using the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program and that he has directed their removal from Alabama’s voter files.

Also according to Allen, voting history records indicated that 25 of the 186 noncitizen voters illegally cast ballots in past Alabama elections. Allen initiated the process of identifying noncitizens registered to vote in Alabama after entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the DHS-USCSIS.
