Demolition of blighted Toledo building to begin, creating new space for Boys & Girls Clubs

TOLEDO, Ohio — A blighted central Toledo building will be demolished to create a green space for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Toledo.

The project is a part of the Brownfield Remediation Program, and will see the demolition of the former check-cashing business at 2246 N. Detroit Ave. This building is adjacent to the Homer Hanham Boys & Girls Club.

In the short-term, this location will be transformed into an open green space. The $107,350 for the project, awarded by the Lucas County Land bank, will pay for the demolition of the building, as well as the remediation of the surrounding soil.
