CONWAY, Ark. – Court officials on Monday heard from a lawyer defending a one-time Conway surgeon, now facing rape and related charges, that his client should be given a mental health evaluation.
Officials said an evaluation has been ordered for 65-year-old Guy Langley Peeples of Vilonia. The order states that the evaluation’s status will be presented to the court at 9 a.m. on March 9.

A mental health evaluation is used to determine if a defendant is capable of assisting in their own defense. The statute governing such examinations was updated by the Arkansas General Assembly in 2025.
