Lyon County Sheriff’s Office identifies man that died in custody

LYON COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) – The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is giving more details on what led up to the death of a man that they arrested on New Year’s Eve.

He’s now being identified as 75-year-old Dean Hendricks of Dayton.

The sheriff’s office says it received evidence that Hendricks had previously been convicted of a sexual offense against a minor in Washington, and never registered in Nevada. Around 2:15 p.m. on December 31, members of the Sex Offender Task Force contacted Hendricks at his home. They say, he confirmed he had never registered and deputies placed him under arrest. They then reportedly escorted Hendricks inside to collect necessary medication. Around 2:30, the sheriff’s office says deputies began driving Hendricks to the Lyon County Jail in Yerington…
