ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Even in the face of bitter cold and mounting snow, the Alaska Zoo remains open – and its animals are as happy as ever.
“They actually prefer this kind of weather,” zoo education director Rich Capitan said of the zoo’s residents, which include reindeer, wolves, polar bears, and other animals native to cold climates. “They’re made for this. They are made for twenty below, cold and snow.”
Still, maintaining the enclosures and paths that connect them is not easy…
