Detroit police commissioners’ attendance is improving — but four members missed more than a third of meetings last year

All 11 members of Detroit’s Board of Police Commissioners were in attendance at their last meeting of the year on Dec. 17 — something that happened just four other times in 2025.

At 19% of weekly meetings last year, there were too few commissioners in attendance for them to vote on matters like Detroit Police Department policies, suspensions and disciplinary actions, and budgets.
