The city of Kalamazoo’s 2026 operating budget will be 11.4% less than 2025, as state funding cuts take effect and funds for a water project have been completed in 2025.
The city commission approved the $344.4 million budget at their Monday evening meeting, which stretched into Tuesday morning, due to 90 minutes of public comments on unrelated issues in a packed agenda.
