Man escorted out of Southaven xAI meeting

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — A man was escorted out of a Southaven meeting on Tuesday night about xAI’s plans to expand its power plant in the city.

The man was forced to leave the packed house by Southaven Police for apparently talking and snapping fingers while someone else was speaking at the podium.

Some residents are concerned about the potential environmental and public health impacts. They are worried about the gas turbines used for backup power.

City leaders tried to assure them there is no danger and told them the city, county, and school system will benefit from any expansion.

“I look out for the future of the city when I see something that’s going to improve the lives of citizens of Southaven,” said Mayor Darren Musselwhite. “When I look at $20 million exertion in one budget year. I can have more police officers, I’m paying for more streets, I’m adding more EMS to protect you if you have a heart attack in your front yard.”
