Quick response limits damage in Stewartsville brush fire

STEWARTSVILLE Va. (WFXR) – On Wednesday at 7:12 a.m., Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire that threatened a residential structure.

Crews responded to the fire in the 18000 block of Stewartsville Rd. Upon arrival, responding units identified a small grass fire that extended underneath a deck., causing the deck to ignite.

According to the fire department, crews were able to quickly control the fire allowing for limited damage to the home, besides the deck.

Fire breaks out in Roanoke home; victims found, rescued and hospitalized

Crews remained at the home to perform overhaul and to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

The Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and is currently investigating the cause of the fire…
