Ciudad Juárez records 20% decline in homicides, marking first sub-1,000 year since 2017

CIUDAD JUAREZ, MEXICO (KFOX14/CBS4) — The state of Chihuahua has made a reduction in homicides and high-impact crimes, marking a significant turning point in its battle against violence, according to Chihuahua state officials.

Over the first 52 months of the current administration, the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública del Estado reported an 18% net reduction in homicide victims, equating to 1,895 lives saved compared to the previous period, officials said.
