KEWAUNEE, Wis. (WFRV) — Authorities in Kewaunee are reminding residents that damage to property caused in a traffic crash must be reported to law enforcement.
The reminder follows an incident Tuesday evening when an officer with the Kewaunee Police Department located a vehicle that had slid through an intersection, struck a porch and left the scene without reporting the crash.

Police said the homeowner was not home at the time of the incident but later found a note slipped under the front door containing the driver’s information.

While officers acknowledged the effort to leave contact information, the department emphasized that state law requires drivers to notify law enforcement when they are involved in a crash that results in property damage.
“We do appreciate the fact that at least a note was left at the scene, but as a reminder, if you are involved in an accident and you do damage to someone else’s property, you are required by law to report that to law enforcement as soon as possible,” the department said…
